Welcome to Creative You Wellness

A gentle place to practice creativity as a way of living

The Turning of the Soil Meditation

A guided practice for planting your next becoming . . .

There is a moment before growth.

A moment before the seed breaks open.
Before the roots reach down.
Before the sprout greets the light.

It’s quiet there.

That space is what I call the turning of the soil.

In gardening, we turn the soil to bring air and light into the earth. We loosen what has become compacted. We mix in nutrients. We prepare the ground for new life.

And in our own lives?

We need this, too.

When the Soil of Your Life Feels Tired

Maybe you’ve been moving quickly.
Holding a lot.
Giving more than you’ve received.

Maybe something in you is ready to grow . . . but you’re not quite sure what it is yet.

Before we plant a new intention, begin a creative project, or step into a new season of becoming—we must tend to the inner terrain.

Turning the soil is an act of self-care.
It’s introspection with compassion.
It’s loosening the hardened places so something tender can emerge.

This meditation invites you into that sacred pause.

About This Guided Meditation

The Turning of the Soil Meditation comes from my book Seeds of Potentiality, and it has become one of my favorite practices for reconnecting with intention.

In this guided journey, you will:

🌿 Settle into the warmth and support of the earth
🌿 Discover a symbolic seed within your heart
🌿 Name a deep desire or intention
🌿 Gently plant that seed in the soil of your being
🌿 Visualize its emergence into the garden of your life

This is not about forcing growth.
It’s about allowing it.

The seed you plant may represent:

  • A longing for more joy

  • A return to creative expression

  • Healing in a relationship

  • A deeper connection with your body

  • Or simply a desire to feel more alive

There is no right seed. Only the one that calls to you.

How to Prepare for This Practice

You don’t need much.

Just a quiet space.
Less than ten uninterrupted minutes.
And your willingness to soften.

You may want to:

✨ Find a comfortable spot to lie down
✨ Or melt into a cozy chair/couch
✨ Find a bit of sunshine and warmth
✨ Place your hand on your heart as you listen

Let this be a small ritual of creative resilience—an intentional moment where you choose to care for your inner garden.

Listen to the Meditation Here

Take your time. The meditation starts slowly.

Pause if you need to.

Journal afterward if something stirs.
Return to it whenever you feel called to plant something new.

After You Plant the Seed

Growth doesn’t happen all at once.

But once the soil has been turned . . .
once the seed has been named . . .

Something begins.

You may notice subtle shifts.
A new idea.
A small action.
A gentle clarity.

This is how transformation unfolds—quietly, organically, in rhythm with your life.

If you’d like to explore this process more deeply, my Creative Continuum framework walks you through five phases of creative and emotional growth: Create, Contemplate, Cultivate, Congregate, and Celebrate.

But for today?

Just begin here.

Turn the soil.
Plant the seed.
Trust what wants to grow.

With warmth and steady encouragement,
Melissa 🌱✨
