A Moment of Micro-Connection

Sometimes, the best way to reset your nervous system is simply to look up. In my walk this morning, I was struck by the stability of the trees around me.

I’ve been translating this feeling into my current tree painting—focusing on the roots seeking water and the branches seeking light. This rhythmic connection to nature is a "seed" of peace I try to plant in my day, every day.

Try this today: Step outside, find a tree, and look at the "outer edges" where the leaves meet the sky. Take one deep breath. Notice the stability beneath your feet.

Spend just two minutes drawing the "outer edges" of a tree you can see from your window

(or one from your memory).

The Goal: Don't worry about "art." Just follow the rhythm of the branches.

The Reset: Notice how your breathing slows as your pen mimics the reach of the wood.
